A WL3 file is a game data file used by the three-episode version of Wolfenstein 3D, the first game in id Software's Wolfenstein series. It may contain sprites, textures, sounds, maps, or other game data. Modders sometimes modify the data WL3 files contain, to customize Wolfenstein 3D.

iD Software released three versions of Wolfenstein 3D. The first, which was a shareware version that included only one episode, stored game data in .WL1 files. The second, which was a registered version that included three episodes, stored game data in WL3 files. The third, which included six episodes, stored game data in .WL6 files.
All versions of Wolfenstein 3D contain nine default game data files. In the three-episode version of Wolfenstein 3D, these files are named:
- AUDIOHED.wl3
- AUDIOT.wl3
- CONFIG.wl3
- GAMEMAPS.wl3
- MAPHEAD.wl3
- VGADICT.wl3
- VGAGRAPH.wl3
- VGAHEAD.wl3
- VSWAP.wl3
