Wii U USB Helper was an application that allowed Wii U players to download backups of their Wii U games. While USB Helper is discontinued, gamers have created variants of USB Helper that perform the same function. USB Helper and its variants save Wii U games as WUP files.
To play the game a WUP file contains, players must move it to their Wii U's SD card and install it using the homebrew application WUP Installer GX2. In order to use WUP Installer GX2, gamers must have already installed the Homebrew Launcher on their Wii U.
