What is an XML.KFL file?
An XML.KFL file is a settings file used by version 2007 and 2010 of Microsoft Outlook, an email client and personal information manager. It stores information about one or more RSS feeds that are synced between an Outlook mail profile and the Internet Explorer via the Common Feed List feature.
More Information
The XML.KFL file is referenced by Outlook if Internet Explorer (IE) is also running on the computer. The file is used by the Common Feed List (CFL) feature, which allows Outlook users to receive RSS feeds in the email application by synchronizing the RSS feeds from IE with Outlook.
XML.KFL files are often stored in the Outlook user profile in the following location:
- Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
- Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
If the CFL feature is enabled, Outlook checks for the XML.KFL file when the program is opened. To disable the CFL feature in Outlook select Tools → Options, click the "Other" tab, select "Advanced Options," and remove the "Sync RSS Feeds to the Common Feed List" checkbox.
