What is an X3G file?

3D printer file format used by desktop 3D printers with MakerBot or Sailfish firmwares such as MakerBot Replicator, FlashForge, and Wanhao; contains 3D model printing instructions.

More Information

The X3G format is designed to deliver instructions from a 3D model file, such as .STL or .OBJ, to a 3D printer in order to print the 3D object. The X3G file is primarily used by MakerBot Replicator and can be sent to the printer via an SD card or connected USB cable.

NOTE: The X3G format replaced the .MAKERBOT and .S3G formats with the release of MakerBot Replicator 2.
