What is a VACB file?
A VACB file is a virtual address control block file. It typically contains cached information about a file's name and location. Memory dump extraction utilities such as Volatility can extract VACB files from Windows memory dumps.
A memory dump is a snapshot of the data stored in a device's RAM at a certain point in time. Windows memory dumps sometimes contain VACB files. Each VACB file contains cached information a Windows PC was using to access a file or metadata. In the case of a file, this information includes the file's location and name.
