What is a UW8 file?
A UW8 file is a MicroW8 program, meant to be run or played with the MicroW8 fantasy console. It is a binary WebAssembly file that defines the program's functions and included assets. Many UW8 files contain retro-style 8-bit video games.
Exoticorn MicroW8 is a WebAssembly-based fantasy console inspired by the TIC-80, WASM-4, and PICO-8 fantasy consoles. It is meant to run programs that are 256 bytes or smaller in size. These programs typically consist of graphical effects or simple video games.
Developers creating programs for MicroW8 save them as UW8 files. These files contain source code that was written in CurlyWas or WebAssembly and compiled to WebAssembly for use with the MicroW8 runtime.
How to open a UW8 file
You can open a UW8 file with MicroW8, which is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as on the web. Doing so will run the program the file contains (and allow you to play the game it contains, if it contains a game).
