What is a T04 file?
A T04 file is a U.S. tax return for the 2004 tax year created by H&R Block TaxCut 2004 software. It stores U.S. federal and state tax forms and personal information entered by a user, such as their financial details and address.
More Information
While TaxCut was used in the 2000s to file taxes, H&R Block replaced the software in the 2009 tax year with H&R Block At Home, then rebranded it again as Tax Software. When a user works on a tax return in TaxCut 2004 and saves their progress, the software creates the T04 file to store the information. After saving a tax return, users can close the T04 file, then reopen it to work on it further.
How to open a T04 file
You can open a T04 file with H&R Block TaxCut 2004. You can also open a T04 file TaxCut 2005 to load information into a tax return for the 2005 tax year. Recent versions of H&R Block software do not support T04 files.
