What is an STEL file?
A STEL file is a 3D polyhedron created by one of Robert Webb's Stella programs. Stella users can open a STEL file to view and edit the polyhedron it contains. They can also use the STEL file to print a corresponding polyhedron net (foldable paper model).
The Stella suite, which consists of Small Stella, Great Stella, and Stella4D, allows you to view and create 3D polyhedra. Stella users can save a polyhedron as a STEL file by selecting File → Save as....
Each STEL file contains all the data Stella needs to show the polyhedron it describes to a user. This includes a record of the model, the model's current stellation, the model's facets, whether the model is spinning, morphing, or folding, and the user's current screen layout and views.
How to open an STEL file
You can open a STEL file in Small Stella, Great Stella, or Stella4D (Windows). To do so, select File → Open. Then, navigate to and open your STEL file.
