What is an SSMA file?
An SSMA file is a data export file created by the macOS version of ScanSnap Home, a program used with Ricoh ScanSnap document scanners. It contains exported content data records that help ScanSnap Home organize and manage scanned documents and other items, such as receipts, business cards, and photos. These records may include information associated with scanned files, such as document details and organizational tags.
More Information
Individuals and businesses use ScanSnap scanners to digitize and organize paperwork, receipts, business cards, and other documents. To export data from ScanSnap Home to transfer to another computer or back up data, users export records to SSMA files. This process helps preserve organizational information when users migrate their scanning library to a new computer.
NOTE: The Windows version of ScanSnap Home uses the .SSWA format instead of the SSMA format. The two formats are not interchangeable across operating systems.
How to open an SSMA file
You can open SSMA files with ScanSnap Home for macOS. To open an SSMA file and import its data, select File → Import/Export content data records. Remember, you can't import SSMA files exported on macOS into the Windows version of ScanSnap Home (that version requires the SSWA format).
