What is an SNAGPROJ file?
A SNAGPROJ file is an image created by Snagit for Mac. It contains a screenshot, and it may also include text, shapes, and other annotations a user added to that screenshot. SNAGPROJ files can be opened only in Snagit for Mac.
More Information
TechSmith Snagit is a screen capture and annotation tool that technical writers and others use to create images for software documentation and tutorials. The Mac version of Snagit allows users to save annotated screenshots as SNAGPROJ files.
The SNAGPROJ format preserves annotations added to a screenshot as "unflattened" objects. This allows users to continue moving and editing those annotations in Snagit. Snagit also allows users to save annotated screenshots as .PNG, .JPG, .TIFF, .GIF, .BMP, or .PDF files, but those formats do not preserve annotations as editable objects.
NOTE: Prior to Snagit 2022, Snagit for Windows saved editable captures as .SNAG files. In Snagit 2022 and later versions, both platforms' versions of Snagit began saving editable captures as .SNAGX files.
How to open an SNAGPROJ file
You can open a SNAGPROJ file in TechSmith Snagit for Mac. To do so, select File → Open... from the program's menu bar. Then, navigate to and open your SNAGPROJ file.
