What is an SLOP file?
A SLOP file is a save file used by Wordslop, a web-based word puzzle game created by R74n. It stores information about a player's game session, including words they have entered, categories they have discovered, their score, number of tries, current streak, and other game progress. For example, a SLOP file can record that a player discovered the word "bat" and that it belongs to categories such as mammals and sports equipment.
More Information
SLOP files are saved in the JSON standard, a plain-text format commonly used to store structured data. The file stores named sections that Wordslop uses to restore the player's game state, including discovered words and categories, game statistics, messages, settings, and version information. It can also contain information about changes made during the session, such as newly discovered words and categories (Wordslop uses this information when a player loads a saved game).
NOTE: Wordslop players may encounter SLOP files when saving or transferring their game progress (clicking save automatically downloads the SLOP file).
Common .SLOP Filenames
[DD-Month-HHam/pm].slop - The naming convention of SLOP files. For example, a SLOP file downloaded at 4pm on September 14th is named 14-September-4pm.slop.
How to open an SLOP file
You can open SLOP files with Wordslop in a web browser. The game's load feature restores saved game data from a SLOP file. You can also open SLOP files with a text editor, but it does not open a SLOP file the same way as Wordslop.
