What is an SDFDATA file?
An SDFDATA file is an archive included in a video game developed using the Ubisoft Snowdrop game engine. It contains assets (meshes, models, animations, textures, sounds, text) used in an Ubisoft video game. Tom Clancy's The Division, Mario + Rabbids, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole all use SDFDATA files.
More Information
Most players will never encounter an SDFDATA file. However, players who are interested in modding games developed using Snowdrop will likely want to extract assets from or repackage assets into the games' SDFDATA files.
NOTE: SDFDATA files are accompanied by an .SDFTOC file.
How to open an SDFDATA file
Modders have developed a variety of tools that allow them to extract files from and repackage files into SDFDATA archives. For example, the rouge_sdf tool allows players to extract assets from The Division's SDFDATA files.
