What is an RWMOD file?
A RWMOD file is a mod package used by Rusted Warfare, a real-time strategy game developed by Corroding Games. It is an uncompressed ZIP archive that contains the files needed to add or modify game content, such as custom units, buildings, maps, graphics, sounds, and text-based configuration files. Players use RWMOD files to install community-created content without changing the game's original files.
More Information
Rusted Warfare supports a large modding community that creates and shares RWMOD files through the Steam Workshop, community websites, Discord servers, and other online sources. Mod developers typically create the contents of a mod as folders containing configuration files, images, audio, and other resources, then package the files into an RWMOD archive for distribution. The game can load multiple enabled mods simultaneously, allowing players to customize gameplay with new units, campaigns, total conversions, and other modifications.
How to open an RWMOD file
You can open RWMOD files with Corroding Games Rusted Warfare. For Steam installations on desktop platforms, place the RWMOD file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rusted Warfare\mods\units (or RustedWarfareRTS\mods\units) and enable or reload the mod from the in-game Mods menu. Launch the game, go to Mods, and click Reload mods.
For the Android version, place the file into the following directory: /storage/emulated/0/RustedWarfare/mods/. Alternatively, tap the Mods menu and select Import mod file.
Since the archive uses ZIP formatting without compression, you can inspect or edit its contents by renaming the .rwmod extension to .zip and opening it with a ZIP utility. However, changing the file incorrectly may prevent Rusted Warfare from loading the mod.
