What is a QBL file?

A QBL file is a text document created by old versions of Intuit QuickBooks. It contains license and registration information saved after a user registers their copy of QuickBooks. QBL files are found in the Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\INET directory.

More Information

If you attempt to reinstall or migrate an old copy of QuickBooks, you'll need to re-enter your license number and registration code during the install. If you have access to the QBL file your previous installation created, you can open it, copy the license and registration information contained within it, and enter that information as you complete your new installation.

Common QBL Filenames

license.qbl - A record of your Intuit QuickBooks licensing information.

How to open a QBL file

Because QBL files are plain text files, you can open them using any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad (Windows), Apple TextEdit (Mac), or GitHub Atom (cross-platform). Then, you can copy and paste your QuickBooks license and registration information as needed.
