What is a PPAM file?

A PPAM file is an add-in file used by Microsoft PowerPoint, a program used to develop slide show presentations. It contains components that add additional functionality, including extra commands, custom macros, and new tools for extending default PowerPoint functions.

More Information

PPAM files were introduced in 2007 with the release of Microsoft Office 2007. The files are similar to PowerPoint PPA add-in files but were int type, but support additional macro capabilities.

Examples of add-ins include icon-insertion tools, interactive audience polls, and QR code generators. PowerPoint add-ins for PowerPoint 2013 to 365 should be located in the following directories, by default:

C:\Users\[user name]\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\Addins\

How to open a PPAM file

You can open PPAM files with Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 or later in Windows and macOS. To open a PPAM file with PowerPoint 365, select File → Open → Browse, then choose "PowerPoint Add-ins (*.ppam;*.ppa)" from the format dropdown menu.
