What is a PMSETTINGS file?
A PMSETTINGS file is settings file used by PowerMate, an input device that plugs into a computer that can be rotated or pressed to perform computer functions. It contains settings for the PowerMate device, such as its dimmer attributes and assign functions. PMSETTINGS files can be exported and imported between different PowerMate devices for sharing purposes.
The PowerMate device is similar to the mouse input device. You can plug PowerMate into one of your computer's USB ports and configure it with the software that comes with PowerMate. You can assign functions with different movements, such as the clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation for scrolling through a folder of files.
The PMSETTINGS file is used to store the PowerMate settings. If you come across this file you can import it into the software that controls the PowerMate device. If you do not have a PowerMate device, you will not need the PMSETTINGS file.
NOTE: PowerMate devices are no longer for sale but are still used by a number of users.
