What is a PLANET file?
A PLANET file is a plain text data file used by R74n GenTown to store information about a generated planet. It contains the settings and data that define a planet within the GenTown system, such as its name, structure, features, and other generated attributes. PLANET files allow users to save and reuse planets they create within the platform.
More Information
The PLANET file format organizes a planet's properties into readable sections, making it easier for software to load and interpret the data. When opened in GenTown, the program reads the file and reconstructs the planet based on the stored information.
GenTown users may use PLANET files to save progress, share creations with others, or build larger projects that include multiple planets. Most users interact with these files through the GenTown interface rather than editing them directly.
NOTE: To create a PLANET file, select Saves and click Save to file.
How to open a PLANET file
You can open PLANET files with R74n GenTown. To open a PLANET file, select Saves and click Load from file.
Since PLANET files are text-based, you can also open and view them with a basic text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad or Apple TextEdit. However, modifying a PLANET file manually is not recommended unless you understand the file structure, as incorrect changes may prevent it from loading properly.
