What is a PAPERS file?
A PAPERS file is a library of paper textures or "grains" created by Corel Painter, an application used to illustrate digital artwork and edit photos. It contains multiple textures that users apply to brushes to mimic real-world mediums. PAPERS files are a legacy format as Corel replaced it with the .PAPERLIBRARY format.

How to open a PAPERS file
While Corel replaced the PAPERS format, you can still open a PAPERS file with Corel Painter. For example, to open a PAPERS file, select Window → Media Panels → Papers, click the "Manage Libraries" icon, then select Import Legacy Paper Library.
