What is an OPLUSDOWNLOAD file?
An OPLUSDOWNLOAD file is a file downloaded on a OnePlus smartphone, such as the OnePlus 9 Pro. In some instances, OnePlus phones mistakenly save downloaded files as OPLUSDOWNLOAD files, instead of as their correct file type. OPLUSDOWNLOAD files cannot be opened.

In early 2022, OnePlus phone users began reporting a bug in which files downloaded from Gmail, Google Drive, Discord, and other applications were saved as OPLUSDOWNLOAD files instead of their correct file types. For example, a user attempting to download a .PDF attachment from Gmail would instead receive an OPLUSDOWNLOAD file.
Users found a workaround that allowed them to restore their ability to download attachments from Gmail. This workaround consists of:
- Going to the phone's settings and selecting Users and Accounts → Multiple Users → Guest.
- Creating a guest account.
- Using the guest account to open Gmail and log in to your email.
- Downloading any attachment.
After performing the steps above, users can correctly download Gmail attachments from either their guest or primary account.
How to open an OPLUSDOWNLOAD file
OPLUSDOWNLOAD files cannot be opened. If you receive an OPLUSDOWNLOAD file when downloading a file from Gmail, use the workaround above to re-download your file.
