What is an NSBTX file?
An NSBTX file is a texture file used by select Nintendo DS games. It stores texture image data and color palettes that help define the appearance of surfaces on 3D models, such as characters, objects, and environments. Developers and modders may extract, view, or edit NSBTX files to study or customize Nintendo DS games.
More Information
NSBTX files are part of the Nintendo DS's 3D graphics system. Games may store textures in separate NSBTX files or include texture data within .NSBMD model files.
The game loads the texture data and uses it when drawing 3D objects. For example, Pokémon Nintendo DS games use NSBTX files for map textures, and Mario Kart DS uses the format for 3D graphics assets.
NOTE: NSBTX stands for "Nitro System Binary Texture," and the format uses Nintendo's Nitro graphics data structure.
How to open an NSBTX file
You can open NSBTX files with MKDS Course Modifier. The application allows you to view and edit the textures stored in the NSBTX file.
