What is an MMPP file?
An MMPP file is a 3D model painting project created by Rodz Labs Material Maker. It contains a path to the .OBJ file included in the project and data that defines how the OBJ file is painted.
More Information
Video game developers use Material Maker to create assets for use in Godot, Unity, and Unreal engine games. Material Maker allows developers to procedurally generate materials (textures) used to skin objects, and it allows developers to paint 3D models.
Material Maker model painting projects are saved as MMPP files. These files are plain text files that contain (JSON-formatted) data, which defines:
- Where the model the project includes is stored
- How the model is painted, including different paint layers
How to open an MMPP file
You can open an MMPP file in Material Maker (multiplatform):
- Open Material Maker and select File → Load.
- When the Open File(s) window appears, navigate to and open your MMPP file.
You can also open an MMPP in any text editor, to view the plain text data it contains.
