What is a META file?

Metafile generated by RealPlayer, a video playback program; contains metadata that describes a specific video file; typically saved along with a corresponding video file that has been downloaded from the Internet.

NOTE: META files describe video files, but do not contain actual video data. Therefore, they are not meant to be opened manually.

A META file contains metadata created by a game with the Exient XGS Engine, such as Angry Birds Go! or Angry Birds Transformers. It stores information about an aspect of the game, such as crash logs or item logs.

More Information

META files are created automatically created by the game and are not meant to be opened or modified by the user. If the META file contains a log for game crashes, it will be named crashes.meta. If the META file contains an item log, then it is most likely named XXX.xml.meta.
