An MCZ file may also be a zipped song package used by Malody, a multiplatform rhythm game. It contains a song and accompanying note chart, background image, and other assets that can be imported into Malody. Players create MCZ files with the NoteArt Malody editor.
More Information
In Malody, players press buttons in time to music to score points. The game allows players to create and import their own levels, using the official, accompanying NoteArt level editor.
After a player has finished creating their level in NoteArt, they can export that level in the MCZ format. Each MCZ file is a renamed .ZIP file that includes all the assets needed to load a level in Malody, including that level's song (an .OGG, .WAV, or .MP3 file), note chart (MC file), and image assets.
How to open an MCZ file
To import the level an MCZ file contains into Malody:
- Select the + found in the game's main menu.
- Select Import charts.
- Navigate to and open your MCZ file.
You'll then be able to play the level your MCZ file contains.
If you want to view an MCZ file's contents outside Malody, rename it to use the .ZIP extension and open it with any Zip-decompression utility.
How to convert an MCZ file
You can use malody2osu (Windows) to convert the note chart an MCZ file contains to the .OSU (Osu! Script) format, for use with the game osu!.
