What is an ITHMB file?
An ITHMB file is a data file used by iPhones and photo-capable iPods to store collections of thumbnail images. It contains a collection of thumbnail images that are stored on the media device. Devices that support ITHMB files use them for quick-loading previews of larger photos stored on the device.

ITHMB files are typically found on older models of iPhones and iPods, created through synchronization with iTunes to display photos efficiently on smaller screens. Each ITHMB file can store up to 25 thumbnail images, each linked to a larger, full-sized photo stored on the device. When a user selects a thumbnail, the device opens the corresponding full-sized image.
NOTE: The ITHMB format is deprecated as more modern methods of image management have replaced it.
