What is a G1K file?
A G1K file is a key-log file used by fx-CG Manager PLUS, a program developed by Casio for simulating Casio graphing calculators on a computer. It stores a recording of key inputs entered during a session, allowing users to capture and review how a calculation or program was performed. The information in G1K files allows users to demonstrate step-by-step solutions or recreate calculator activity.
More Information
Teachers, students, and educators are the primary users of fx-CG Manager PLUS and G1K files. They commonly use the program and G1K files in classroom settings to create instructional materials, share worked examples, or demonstrate calculator techniques. The fx-CG Manager PLUS software uses information in G1K files to replay the exact input on a virtual calculator, preserving the order and pacing of each action.
NOTE: fx-CG Manager PLUS Subscription allows you to record key-log files in Emulator and Editor modes. Emulator mode only records keystrokes, while Editor mode records keystrokes and allows text to be entered (it also allows you to delete recorded keystrokes).
Common G1K Filenames
KeyLog1.g1k - Default file name given to new G1K files. The file naming convention increases by 1 with every new G1K file created (KeyLog2.g1k, KeyLog3.g1k, and so on).
How to open a G1K file
You can open G1K files with fx-CG Manager PLUS by selecting File → Open. Once you open the file, the program displays the calculator interface and replays the recorded inputs.
