File Type 1Ego Engine Game Archive
What is an ERP file?
An ERP file is an archive used by games that utilize the Ego game engine, such as Race Driver: Grid, Colin McRae: Dirt, and F1 2016. It contains multiple asset files, such as .TGA, TGA.SAMPLER, and TGA.IMAGE files, which are used to store textures for objects in the game.
ERP files are typically only seen by gamers who are modifying the gameplay of a game. Ego ERP Archiver is a popular program for opening ERP archives. Users can then export graphic files stored in the archive, modify the exported graphic files with an image editor, then import them back into the ERP archive.
NOTE: The Ego game engine is developed by Codemasters.
File Type 2Alter Ego Game Archive
.ERP File Association 2
Game file used by Alter Ego, a dark adventure game; stores an archive of game files, which may contain graphics, audio, and other game data; used for loading game content; can be unpacked using the Alter Ego ERP unpacker.
NOTE: There is another "Alter Ego" game that was released in 1984 for older computer systems, but this game does not use ERP files.
File Type 3Encarta Researcher File
.ERP File Association 3
File that contains data for articles used by Encarta, a digital encyclopedia; referenced by Encarta and is not meant to be opened or edited.
Encarta was a CD-ROM based encyclopedia and dictionary published by Microsoft from 1993 to 2009. It was birthed in the pre-Internet 1990s and was used as a digital reference, most commonly for work and school projects. The program contains articles, pictures, illustrations, videos, sounds, and animations. Encarta eventually met its demise because it couldn't compete with free online encyclopedias like Wikipedia.
