What is an ENTITY file?
An ENTITY file is a data file used by r74n GenTown to store information about an entity within a generated world, such as a town, plant, or animal. It contains plain text properties that define the entity, including its name, size, color, and placement. GenTown users may use ENTITY files to preserve the properties of entities and share them with other users.
More Information
GenTown provides two play modes:
- Strategy: Answer prompts from your residents to keep them happy
- Free Play: Design a scenario and see what happens
You can save an entity as an ENTITY file in either mode. To create an ENTITY file, choose the entity, click the three dots in the upper-left of the window, and select Download.
How to open an ENTITY file
You can open ENTITY files with r74n GenTown. For example, you can upload an ENTITY file to GenTown in Free Play mode.
Since ENTITY files are text-based, you can also open and view them with a basic text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad or Apple TextEdit. However, if you edit an ENTITY file incorrectly, it may become corrupt.
