What is a BLOCKX file?
A BLOCKX file is a project file created by Blockx, a modified version of MIT Scratch. It contains a program, typically an animation or game, written in the Scratch programming language. However, BLOCKX files can be opened only with Blockx, and not with the default version of Scratch.

Scratch is a popular block-based development platform used to teach children about coding. Blockx is a modified version of Scratch 1.4 that includes a few additional features and categories of function blocks (such as Internet and More).
By default, Blockx saves the programming projects that developers create with it as BLOCKX files. These files contain all the project's information and assets, including imported sprites, sounds, and images.
How to open a BLOCKX file
You can open a BLOCKX file with Blockx (Windows). To do so, select File → Open... from the program's menu bar. Then, navigate to and open your BLOCKX file. The development project your BLOCKX file contains will then appear in Blockx.
How to convert a BLOCKX file
You can use Blockx to convert a BLOCKX file to the .SB (Scratch Project) format, for use with other versions of Scratch. To do so, open your BLOCKX file, and then select File → Save As Scratch Project....
