What is a 17T file?
A 17T file is a tax return created by the 2017 version of StudioTax, a Windows and macOS program used to prepare personal income tax returns in Canada. It contains all the necessary Canadian federal and province tax information and personal data entered by the user.
More Information
When you save your tax return in StudioTax 2017, the 17T file is created to save your progress. It is the main file type used by the 2017 version of StudioTax and is primarily used for three purposes:
- Saving a 2017 tax return to be electronically filed or printed to be mailed.
- Backing up a tax return in case of the loss or corruption of a tax return.
- Importing 2017 tax data into the 2018 version of StudioTax.
Tax return file extensions used by StudioTax reflect the year of the tax data they contain. Tax returns for the 2016 year use the .16t extension, returns for the 2015 year use the .15t extension, and so on.
