However, support for HEICS sequences is less common than support for standard HEIC images, so many general-purpose image viewers may not recognize the file type.

Apple's Image I/O framework gives applications built-in tools for reading and displaying HEICS image sequences. For example, an application can use the framework to determine how long each image should be displayed and how many times the sequence should repeat. Most users do not interact with Image I/O directly; instead, an application can use Apple's framework behind the scenes to work with HEICS files.
