What is a TWLD file?
A TWLD file is a data file that modifies a Terraria world (.WLD file). It may contain modifications to the world's terrain, water, monsters, items, and other objects. The Terraria modding program tModLoader creates TWLD files when players create modded worlds.
TModLoader is a free add-on that allows players to install mods for Terraria, a 2D sandbox exploration game. After installing mods, players can use tModLoader to create modified Terraria worlds.
Unlike normal Terraria worlds', modified worlds' data is split across two files: a normal WLD file, which contains typical Terraria world data, and a TWLD file, which contains all the world modifications created by the player's installed mods. To load a modified world, you must possess both its WLD and TWLD file (and store them in the appropriate Terraria directory).
How to open a TWLD file
With tModLoader installed, you can load the world with which a TWLD file is associated. To do so, place the world's WLD and TWLD files in Terraria's Worlds directory. In Windows, you may find this directory at:
Then, open Terraria and load your modded world.
