What is a SOUNDS file?
Sound definition file used by games developed for id Tech 3, which is often known as the Quake III engine; defines the properties for one or more sounds, such as an sound ID and a reference to a .WAV file; stored in a plain-text format.
Sound definitions can be referenced by other game script files in order to customize events during gameplay. For example, a user could specify to play a certain audio file when a map objective is completed.
SOUNDS files are typically located in the /sound/scripts/ directory of a .PK3 game archive.
