What is a PIV file?
A PIV file is an animation created by Pivot Animator, a program used to create stick figure animations. It contains a series of frames, in which one or more stick figures perform actions. Pivot Animator includes many sample PIV files, which animators can use as templates.
More Information
Pivot Animator is a Windows program that allows you to create simple stick figure animations, which can include moving characters, text, and other objects. For example, you can create an animation in which two stick figures have an argument and then fight to the death, within the span of a dozen frames.
Animations created in Pivot Animator are saved as PIV files. Each PIV file stores an animation's included frames, characters, objects, and background image(s). After you open a PIV file in Pivot Animator, you can play and/or edit the animation it contains.

You can open a PIV file in Pivot Animator (Windows):
- Select File → Open Animation.
- Navigate to your PIV file and select Open.
After you open your PIV file, you can play the animation it contains by clicking the Play button.
