What is an NNES file?

An NNES file is a saved game created by the Nostalgia.NES Nintendo Entertainment System emulator. It contains a record of a player's progress, linked to a particular game ROM. NNES files are often named for the game with which they are meant to be used.

More Information

Nostalgia.NES is an NES emulator for Android. It allows gamers to play old NES games, like Super Mario Bros. 3, on their smartphones, tablets, and other Android devices.

While playing a game, players can save their progress to a save slot. Players can share saved games by selecting a save slot and pressing Share → Save as. Nostalgia.NES then saves the saved game as a Share.data file. Players typically rename these files to use the .nnes extension, to denote that they are Nostalgia.NES saved games. Players also often change the file's name to include the game the file is meant to be used with.

How to open an NNES file

You can open an NNES file in Nostalgia.NES (Android). To do so, you must first install the game ROM the file is meant to be used with. Then, long-press or right-click the file and select Slot import, which should appear alongside the Nostalgia.NES program icon.
