What is a MIP file?
Image file originally created for Paint Shop Pro, an image-editing program now known as PaintShop Photo Pro; contains multiple resolutions of the same .BMP image; often used for texture mapping purposes.
MIP files allow users store graphics that are optimized for specific sizes. This way, images do not have to be stretched or compacted to fit. For example, a 512x512 pixel MIP image may also include a 32x32 pixel version for a thumbnail logo.
