What is a KCP file?
A KCP file is a knitting project created by Create2Thrive knitCompanion, a pattern tracking app. It stores information about a pattern project that includes row markers, counters, and notes about the pattern. Users typically save KCP files that store patterns for creating clothing items, such as scarves, mittens, shawls, socks, hats, and vests.
knitCompanion helps you keep track of your knitting, crochet, weaving, beading, and cross-stitch progress. Additionally, it helps you reduce errors and learn new techniques.
You can download .PDF designs from the Create2Thrive shop or your Ravelry library directly to knitCompanion, mark them up, then save the designs as a KCP projects. To create a KCP file with knitCompanion:
- Open the Projects section
- Click the three dots icon of a project
- Select the share icon
- Name the file and click Save
How to open a KCP file
You can open a KCP file with knitCompanion in macOS and Android. To open a KCP file with the Mac version of knitCompanion, select File → Open File.
