What is a JWLIBRARY file?
A JWLIBRARY file is a backup file created by JW Library, an eReader used to read Jehovah's Witnesses Publications. It contains a user's document annotations, including notes and highlighting. JWLIBRARY files do not contain a backup of the books and other documents a user has stored in JW Library.
More Information
JW Library is a mobile and Windows application that allows users to import and read Jehovah's Witnesses publications on their smartphone, tablet, or PC. For example, users can download, import, and read documents saved as .JWPUB files.
While reading, JW Library users can annotate documents with notes, highlighting, underlines, bookmarks, and tags. If a user wants to back up these annotations, they can do so by clicking JW Library's Cloud icon and selecting Create a backup. This saves the user's annotations as a JWLIBRARY file, which they can store on their device, send to a cloud storage service, or email to themself.
How to open a JWLIBRARY file
You can import a JWLIBRARY file into JW Library (Windows, Android, iOS) to restore the annotations it contains. To do so:
- Open JW Library and select the Cloud icon.
- Select Restore a backup.
- Navigate to and import your JWLIBRARY file.
Advanced users can use JWLMerge (Windows) to merge the annotations two or more JWLIBRARY files contain into a single JWLIBRARY file, which can then be used to restore the merged annotations in JW Library.
