What is an AQZ file?
An AQZ file is a backup database file created by Incline Software Ancestral Quest, a family tree genealogy application. It stores a family tree genealogical database, which includes the names, birthplaces, and descriptions of family members, but has been compressed to save space.

Ancestral Quest enables you to record, organize, and visualize members in your family tree. When you save your information in the software by selecting File → New..., Ancestral Quest creates an AQ file to store the information. But if you want to back up your database for archival purposes, you can save an AQZ backup database by selecting File → Backup....
How to open an AQZ file
You can only open AQZ files with Ancestral Quest. To open an AQZ file with the software, select File → Restore....
