An AIV file contains a village for an artificial intelligence character and is used by Stronghold Crusader, a castle simulation game. It stores the layout of a castle that is assigned to an AI character during a skirmish game in Stronghold Crusader. AIV files include the placement of blocks that form the castle, water moat features, and other objects related to the castle.
AIV files are typically not seen by the average player. However, some gamers like to modify gameplay and edit the AIV files. AIV files are named after the name of the AI character followed by a digit between 1 and 8. When you play a skirmish game, Stronghold Crusader loads the layout from one of the AIV files.
