What is a QUA file?

File created by Avira AntiVir, an antivirus application; saves an infected file in an encrypted format so that it cannot be opened manually; used for quarantining files that contain viruses.

More Information

Avira AntiVir quarantines infected files by encrypting them and moving them to a safe location. When the software downloads an update that can clean a particular file, it removes the virus, decrypts the file, and moves the file back to its original location.

A QUA file may also be a beatmap file used by Quaver, a free rhythm game in which players press buttons in time to music. It defines the map's associated song, difficulty, notes, timing points, and other properties. QUA files are included in Quaver mapsets (.QP files).

More Information

Quaver includes an Editor that allows players to create their own beatmaps. To create a beatmap, players select an .MP3 file and then create one or more maps associated with that song.

Each beatmap has its own difficulty, and may have different included notes and timing points. Individual beatmaps are saved as QUA files. However, players most often interact with complete mapsets, which include one or more difficulties' worth of QUA files and their associated MP3 file.

How to open a QUA file

You can open a QUA file in Quaver (Windows, Mac). To do so, first import the file as part of a Quaver mapset (.QP file). Then, open the Quaver Editor, begin editing your mapset, and select Open .qua file. This will allow you to select and open the QUA file you want to edit.
