What is an NRT file?

An NRT file is a ringtone used by a Nokia cell phone. It contains a melody saved in the Scalable Polyphony MIDI format. Because NRT files are uncommon, no currently-developed programs can play them.

More Information

Nokia cell phone users could use Nokia Sound Converter, an app included with the Nokia PC Suite, to convert standard MIDI files into NRT files. They could then transfer these files to their phones and use them as ringtones.

How to open an NRT file

Provided you still have access to it, you can use Nokia Sound Converter (included in Nokia PC Suite) to open an NRT file, play the sound it contains, and transfer it to a Nokia cell phone. If you do not have access to Nokia Sound Converter, you likely will not be able to open your NRT file.
