What is a HO file?
An HO file is an asset archive used by a Heavy Iron Studios video game. It contains 3D models, audio files, animations, textures, and/or other game assets. Heavy Iron games developed using the Good Engine or Havok game engines use HO files.
More Information
Heavy Iron Studios is a former subsidiary of THQ that has developed or co-developed many popular video games. Between 2007 and 2012, Heavy Iron developed games using the Havok engine and a proprietary engine known as the Good Engine. Games developed using these engines include:
- Ratatouille
- WALL-E
- Up
- SpongeBob's Truth or Square
- UFC Personal Trainer
- Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse
- Harley Pasternak's Hollywood Workout
All these games store their assets and resources in HO files. While most gamers will never encounter an HO file, modders sometimes extract, modify, and repackage the assets HO files contain, to modify the associated game.
