What is a GDR file?

Font file used by Symbian OS devices, such as Nokia Series 60 smartphones; saves font characters in a bitmap format; can be transferred from a PC to the phone via Bluetooth or USB.

More Information

GDR font files must be saved in the "\System\Fonts" directory on the Symbian device in order to function correctly. When a new font is installed, the device must be restarted to allow the Font and Bitmap server processes to recognize the font.

Symbian OS programs, such as FileMan and FontRemover, can also be used to install or remove GDR files on the Symbian device.

Geometry Dash Replay

A GDR file may also be a replay file used by Geometry Dash and related community tools to store recorded gameplay actions and timing data. GDR files contain information about player inputs, movements, and level events that compatible software, such as Mega Hack and ZiLko xdBot, can replay. GDR files allow players to review gameplay attempts, share replays, or analyze level completions without storing video data.

More Information

GDR files are commonly associated with replay systems, macros, and practice tools used by members of the Geometry Dash community. Players, speedrunners, content creators, and level developers may use GDR files to study difficult sections, test strategies, verify gameplay, or create automated replay demonstrations.

How to open a GDR file

You can open GDR files with compatible Geometry Dash replay or macro tools that support the format, such as ZiLko xdBot, Eclipse Menu, and Mega Hack. Some tools automatically load replay files from specific folders, while others allow users to import the replay manually through the program interface.

Since GDR files store gameplay instructions rather than visual media, they usually depend on the same game version, mods, or replay tools used when the replay was created. Some community-created tools can load GDR files to simulate or visualize recorded runs, while others use them for debugging or automation (compatibility may vary across replay tools and Geometry Dash versions).

Advanced users may also inspect GDR files with text editors or hex editors, although the stored replay data may not be human-readable.
