What is an FSSAVE file?
An FSSAVE file is used to show a saved Microsoft Flight Simulator X game in Windows Games Explorer. It is linked to an associated .FLT file. When you click a saved game image that appears in Games Explorer, Games Explorer uses an FSSAVE file to open the associated FLT file in Flight Simulator X.
More Information
Microsoft Flight Simulator X is the tenth installment in the Microsoft Flight Simulator series. It was released in 2006, and it is available for Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8.
In Windows Vista and 7, saved Flight Simulator X games appear in the game's Windows Games Explorer listing. These saved game images, and references used to load the associated saved game, are stored in FSSAVE files.
FSSAVE files do not contain any saved game data. They are used only to load the data stored in FLT files. Therefore, if you want to resume or transfer a saved game, you need only its FLT file.
How to open an FSSAVE file
FSSAVE files are not meant to be opened. If you want to open a saved Flight Simulator X game, you should do so either from within Windows Games Explorer or Flight Simulator X.
