What is an EMM file?
An EMM file is a document created by MindMaple, a mind mapping application used to brainstorm and organize ideas. It contains a map which consists of text, shapes, branches, images, and icons that represent ideas. EMM files are often used for brainstorming, taking notes, tracking projects, and researching topics.
More Information
When you create a map from scratch or from an .EMMT template and save it, MindMaple creates the EMM file to store the map contents. You can export the file to other file formats such as .DOC, .XLS, .PPT, .HTML, .JPEG, and .TXT.
MindMaple is designed to help you visually organize ideas. You can create maps that consist of ideas placed in nodes that can be connected to other nodes and images. MindMaple is available for Windows, macOS, and iOS in Lite and Pro editions.

An EMM file may also be a game data file used by various games in the Street Fighter series, such as Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter x Tekken. It contains settings that specify the colors and other material properties of characters, characters' clothing, and stages. Street Fighter modders sometimes edit the settings EMM files contain to alter characters' and stages' appearance.
More Information
Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter x Tekken were all developed by Dimps, in collaboration with Capcom. All of these games contain EMM files and use them to specify characters' and stages' color schemes (including characters' alternate color schemes).
The color data that EMM files contain is saved in an RGBA format, which specifies each color's RGB value and opacity. Each material associated with a character or stage, such as skin color, hair, and articles of clothing, has its own sets of RGBA values.
While most players will never encounter or need to edit an EMM file, Street Fighter modders have created utilities that allow them to open the files and adjust the color values they contain, to customize characters' and stages' color schemes.
How to open an EMM file
You can open an EMM file with EMMEdit (Windows). Doing so will allow you to edit the color values the file contains, and customize the associated character or stage's color scheme.
