A COL file may also be a color table used by Minecraft: Legacy Console Edition games. It contains settings that specify how colors are applied to resource pack items. Each Legacy Console Edition resource pack contains a COL file.
More Information
Minecraft is a popular, multiplatform block-based building and exploration game. In the past, 4J Studios published specific versions of Minecraft for various gaming consoles. These versions of Minecraft, which are now collectively referred to as Minecraft: Legacy Console Edition, have since been replaced by Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Minecraft: Legacy Console Edition games allow users to download and install resource packs saved as .PCK files. Each PCK file includes a COL file, which specifies the colors that each item in the resource pack uses. Enterprising Minecraft: Legacy Console Edition modders have created tools that allow them to open and edit COL files, to change the colors of resource pack items.
How to open a COL file
You can open a COL file with PCK Studio (Windows) or Minecraft COL Editor (multiplatform). Doing so allows you to edit the colors your COL file contains. (Note that, to open a COL file with PCK Studio, the file must be included in a .PCK archive.)
