An ARP file may also be a settings file used by Elcomsoft Advanced RAR Password Recovery (ARPR). It contains a plain text record of a user's ARPR settings. ARPR users can load an ARP file to apply the settings it contains.
More Information
ARPR is a utility that allows users to retrieve the passwords of password-protected .RAR archives. For example, if a user forgets the password for a RAR file they created, they can use ARPR to recover the file's password, allowing them to open it.
Optionally, users can adjust ARPR's settings, to change what type of password recovery method the program uses, whether and how the program creates auto-save files during the recovery process, and more. If a user wants to save their ARPR settings (so they can quickly load them again in the future), they can select the program's Save button. This saves the user's current settings as an ARP file.
NOTE: Elcomsoft has replaced Advanced RAR Password Recovery with Advanced Archive Password Recovery, which uses .AXR files in place of ARP files.
How to open an ARP file
You can open an ARP file with Elcomsoft Advanced RAR Password Recovery (Windows), to apply the settings it contains. To do so, click the Open button, and then navigate to and open your ARP file.
