What is an A52 file?
An A52 file is an Atari 5200 game ROM. It contains a complete copy of the data stored on an Atari 5200 game cartridge. You can load an A52 file in an Atari 5200 emulator to play the game it contains.
More Information
The Atari 5200 SuperSystem, more commonly referred to as just the Atari 5200, was a video game console released in 1982. Some popular games for the console included:
- Qix
- Missile Command
- Pengo
- Ballblazer
- Space Dungeon
To preserve the games that their Atari 5200 cartridges contain, gamers created utilities that allowed them to save a cartridge's data as an A52 file. Using an A52 file, a gamer can transfer the game the file contains to another Atari 5200 cartridge or, more commonly, play the game on their PC, using an Atari 5200 emulator.
NOTE: Atari discontinued the Atari 5200 in 1984.
