Wat is een XCF.GZ-bestand?

An XCF.GZ file is an archive created by GIMP that contains an .XCF image and is compressed with the GNU zip (gzip) compression algorithm. GIMP users save XCF images as XCF.GZ files to reduce their size, typically when backing them up or transferring them.

GIMP users can export XCF images as archives with different types of compression. Besides gzip compression, you can export XCF images as archives compressed with bzip2 (.XCF.BZ2 and .XCFBZ2 files) and XZ (.XCF.XZ and .XCFXZ files) compression.

To export an XCF file as an XCF.GZ file, follow these steps:

Select File → Export or Export As
Choose "Select File Type (By Extension)"
Select "gzip archive" and click Export
