PowerDirector is a video editing and enhancement program developed by CyberLink. It includes basic editing features and tools for improving video quality, which make it ideal for editing video on a home computer. PowerDirector includes DVD and Blu-ray disc authoring tools and supports many video file formats, including MPEG-4 and H.264.

PowerDirector provides content-aware editing for video projects. The software can automatically analyze and adjust scenes using CyberLink's proprietary TrueTheater technology, which applies edits such as lighting adjustments, video sharpening, and jitter reduction. TrueTheater can also upscale standard definition (SD) video to HD-like quality. When video projects are exported, the TrueVelocity rendering engine leverages both software and hardware technologies for fast video processing.

Movie projects can be saved as a PowerDirector project (.PDS) file for later editing. When finished, you can publish videos directly to YouTube, Facebook, or other online video sites. You can also burn your video to discs, such as DVD and Blu-ray, or you can export to common video formats such as .AVI and .WMV. PowerDirector allows you to not only create memorable movies but professional-looking animated slide shows as well. With the Slideshow Creator, you can choose from over 30 different themes to create a presentation of a wedding, vacation, or from a recent family get-together.

CyberLink PowerDirector is a good option for creating and editing movies for home users. It is also useful for improving video quality of already existing videos. If you are trying to make home movies that you can share with friends and family on DVD or Blu-Ray, this program is a good choice. If you want to create a movie that will need special effects and other advanced features, there are other programs more suited to your needs.
